Two of my favorite bands are Khruangbin and The White Stripes. I’ve always been impressed of how big they can make a sound with just a handful of people — The White Strips have played in stadiums with just the two of them!
Prompt: make a jam with up to 3 different instruments/voices
Key: Am
BPM: 99
I feel the same about Muse, just 3 guys being able to make so much awesomeness.
Last year I went to Clowncore, while this might not be for everyone… It is indeed incredible what a small number of the right kind of people can accomplish together.
@beto - thanks for these prompts. I was feeling a bit stale with Jamuary and this has given me something to work on. This was my first crack at one of your prompts. Done with 3 voices on the Circuit Tracks (Bass, Lead, Drums which i limited to the same set of samples)
I have a question: Are we attempting to limit ourselves to three sounds or is it more like “bass” “percussion” and something else kinda thing. I’m new to electronic so I must admit I don’t fully understand voices.
From my understanding (looking at the examples) It would be percussion (drum set, with multiple sounds), bass, guitar. As an example. You could limit yourself further to three “sounds” if you wanted.
Thanks for clearing that up. BTW, I wanted to tell you how much I’ve been enjoying your submissions. I’ve had your Jamuary2025 playlist on youtube on rotation. You really know how to create a place that I want to be, thanks!
Wow, thank you! I’m really happy to hear that! And surprised! I feel like I’ve been making super basic stuff and everyone else hear is wildly more creative and talented!
I think you can take it however you interpret it. It decided to stick to 3 synths/3 voices, but that was simply because I wanted to keep it as simple as possible. I even kept the Matriarch in single voice mode (although I almost always use it like that).
Modular Generative with three voices - Mutable Braids, and Plaits, and Intellijel Plonk (Guitar Tone), which ended up doing a lot of rhythm stuff due to the random setting I had it on. I had fun making this one. Turing Machines, random, and other modulations fed into the three voices. It’s a little long.
I’ll also say I’ve played in several rock bands but my favorites were the trios. There’s just something to the sound of bass, guitar, and drums.
Day 14. Great prompt! I made a patch with Roland S-1 which works as a bass and lead. Drum track comes from Circuit Tracks and the pad is from Microfreak. Quite fast jam, but it turned out quite decent. Maybe someday it will turn into a complete song!
What a great jam to test out the new lights I programmed yesterday
Had a lot of fun with this one, there have been two moments the last few months when I was like “am I going to keep that Reface DX?” and now I am like “That Reface DX is going to stay!”
