Prompt: makes a jam that feels like home
Key: D major
BPM: 80
I had a guitar thing in mind for this. Used the Digitone II for most of it outside of the sampled guitar riff that I looped forwards & reversed throughout. Drums are from Superior Drummer & of course my beloved Moog Minitaur makes an appearance.
Jamuary 2025 - Feeling of Home Prompt. Crave, Volca FM, Drum and S-1
I used a crude picture of home on the Launchpads to help choose the notes for each synth, hence the music is guided by āhomeā. This is a jam from scratch.
Lovely Jam Joe. I like the nice relaxed feel!
Day 24. Hardest day so far, I almost skipped this one. But I didnāt! My plan was to record sound from my home and make a jam out of those sounds. I did that, but very quickly. Only Roland P-6 sampler used this time.
Day 24 āOld Home Pianoā. This short, nostalgic piece is meant to conjure up memories of a time before electronic instruments, computers and digital recordings, memories of playing good old gospel music on a home piano, completely raw and unedited. I used the excellent Homestead Piano vst from Fracture Sounds for itās realistic sounds.

I pulled out what I call my āopen tuningā guitar which is a beat up old Recording King (a Montgomery Ward brand!). I use it to mess with alternate tunings without worrying about breaking my real acoustics. It doesnāt have its own pickups so I recorded on my vocal mic.
Added some bass to boot: Jan 24
This morning I grabbed my Zoom H1 and recorded some sounds in my kitchen. When loaded the recordings in my MPC I also found a recording of my cat being pissed of (at another cat invading the back garden) so I also grabbed that one, because home is where the cat is.
I spent most of my time before and after work today chopping up the samples, and then made this little composition. The synthlike sound is a keygroup with a snippet of my cat through a filter and chorus, the rest are just raw cut up samples.
I watched that liminal ambient video essay some of you talked about yesterday. I had never heard about the āslow + reverbā trend before but I wanted to try it out just for fun. I made this jam in A major and 120 bpm. Resampling it down by 7 semitones then put it in D major and ~80 bpm.
Sup Homies!
Glad the JP8000 wanted to dance tonight, would have missed her massive sounds in this jam otherwise, she is in need of some maintenance that is scheduled for next month.

not sure if this feels home or more homely has some cool bits. this was about 1.5 hours of playing and then 10 minutes of recorded jam which got cut down to 4 minutes. realise the cut in the middle is a bit janky whoops. but liking this flow very much. think I am up to 20/24 days so far. yay for jamuary.
At home, arps always come in too loud in the mixā¦ Been having fun doubling up the bass voices, and liked the groove they created here.

I took some liberties here in interpretation. Iām at āhomeā with drum and bass so what better idea than another low effort DnB track. Doubled the speed, at least the major scale provides a challenge. The count of me moving notes into the ārightā place (really the wrong place if weāre in major) was easily into the hundreds.
Quite happy with the beats in this one, a combination of a couple of relatively obscure breaks plus Think for the high end. Put in some cowbell because why not. Used Nymphes for the mid range synth and quite happy with the groove of that when itās filtered. Some experiments with Saturn tubes and input gain changes on bass duties.
This one was fun. I got the Medusa out (into Chroma Console), so I had that, Korg MS2000R, Microfreak (into Microcosm, that wobbling synth sound), Nanobass, and the Roland Fantom X-6 (jupiter X string sound) and the beat. And itās DAWless.
Only one week left!
Jamuary 2025 day 24. The prompt for today is a jam that feels like home. Used #synthstromdeluge and some reverb on the #teenageengineeringtx6
Alright guys, take me home!
@JoeL8X Starting of very homey for sure! A cosy and gentle vibe that feelsā¦ Safe and welcoming. Great drums, love the little off-beat, something you can only do at home ofc, then the added high notes really takes itā¦ Home, sorry getting to punny right now. It might be because it makes me feel like in my safe zone ;p
@Expensive_Notes The Crave makes ME feel home right away! Love the little house you build on the pads. This time itās easy to see what you are going for, very interesting jam Do all the desktop synths have a little pre programmed thing they should do upon when they are triggered?
@MyopicMycelium Finally a great moment to try and imagine how it would feel to visit your studio, take me home Myo! Itās fun that at the first minute I really donāt know what to expect, by now I know it can go various ways, but itās cosy for sure but I would not have surprized me if suddenly goa vibes kicked in but you kept it gentle this jam Love how it keeps building up in the higher range and keeps on giving, dreamlike. But you know how to handle dreamy vibes.
@cabotageksm another great dreamy vibe, good combination of sounds and interesting story. Drums are tight too! Itās not cozy like the once before, more like this is prelude for the party that is about to start afterwards. the evening is still young.
@Yuteimusic sampling is fun! Did one with my kid years ago in Jamuary 2022 and even he still talks about it nowadays! Very creative jam and also very home but with a nice twist! That P6 is smaller than I thought it was!
@Soupoclap I know your place, or at least, from way back, letās see if it still feels like how I remember. Chill vibes (as expected) and great sound design like always. That filter in the incoming drums added just that little thing it needed to bring it home. Gentle melodies and vibe that truly do feel like a nice warm summer night in my old city <3
@DroneSinger Ow my what a great start, it gives me goosebumps right away, the good once I mean. When music just hit that right snare in me. Another very VERY homey vibe. Short but very VERY powerfull. Love it <3
@dreamindani Starting off gentle and another one with a very homey vibe, not sure what makes it feel that way but so far all of the jams really do have a cosy vibe. Love how yours slowly turns a tat ruffer but every house is different. Feels like the party was over itās wildest point of the evening and everyone is coming down but there is just still that little enery left and itās not time to leave the house, yet.
@FriendlyVisitor great way to fill in the prompt, homegrown samples! I love how different it sounds but still perfectly fits. Must have been fun to work out!
@Vidar Coming in chill right away, like stepping right into the front door and feeling at home instantly. The electric piano at 00:28 truly adds something that even lifts it higher. very interesting jam that keeps on giving.
