I tried to make the mood somber, but the major scale threw me off and it ended up being a happy jam. Like yesterday, I played the sheet using the Faderfox EC4 to control parameters of each track.
Recorded straight to the Zoom H6, no post-processing. It could use some compression to tame the dynamic range, so please be careful when listening. Tomorrow I’ll bounce on the DAW to get a better mix.
Today I did a few guitar pedal explorations. Posting this one, but I think I’m going to put all of them on my Jamuary album.
Pedals used:
Ernie Ball Volume Pedal, Hologram Microcosm, Boss ME-80 multi effects, UA Starlight Echo, EHX 720 Looper,
My main Pedal board:
Maxon Compressor, Boss OD2 Turbo Overdrive, Bogner Oxford Fuzz, Flashback II Delay, Hall Of Fame Reverb, Mimiq doubler, Sub N Up Octave, Flashback I Delay, 2 Dittos, DOD Resistence Mixer (2 of em), DOD AB Switch (2 of em), Boss DD20 Delay.
Ditto X4 looper, Flashback X4 II Delay, Eventide Space
Day 2 composition. I used a sound sample of a creaky old door as background ambience, then added drums, bass and piano to form a three piece jazz combo playing a relaxing composition over it. An interesting juxtaposition. Not exactly somber, but more nostalgic, and smooth like honey. I think of it as going back into the infinite shadows of past memories.
Prompts used:
BPM: 126 • Key: B Major • Color: Honey • Phrase: “A door creaking slowly open”
Hi, this is my first time taking part in jamuary, still dont really know what i’m doing bu had fun making this. i used a polyend tracker and a microfreak
I already had a sample of a creaky/squeaky door - recorded in my parents house, where I grew up - in my Liven Boxes so that was a clear starting point for today. Preparation took me a bit longer than I aimed for and I recorded three jams before I was somewhat happy with the result. I had fun translating the 4th track of the score into different modulations of the clap of the lxr, and aimed so make a somber mood using the Bb major key.
I had a lot of fun creating a bass line on my Moog Grandmother using some of the weirdest filter settings I’ve ever tried. Also threw some spacey guitar on this using the Microcosm. Not sure how to get the “Honey” color into the mix… but my drum part used a gold label in my DAW, if that counts
