Prompt: something old, something new
BPM: 140
Key: Bb
Jamuary 2025 - Circuit and MonoStation
Don’t use these much, so I got them out for a run to keep them fit!
Jamuary Day 5: Something old, something new
Back on track with the prompts!! For something old, I chose the Roland JU-06A’s Juno 60 patch 1 for the main riff. The bass is a Moog Minitaur & the rest is the Elektron Digitackt II & Digitone II. Mixed with an Octatrck using Ezbot’s performance template.
Great snappy track. I like the energy.
The percussion is cool.
Mod Duo and Lore by Walrus Audio.
The Mod Duo does a great job sending the e piano on the left channel and the drums on the right one.
Unknown key.
I used Maxon DM1000 rack delay (From the Mid-1980s!) with a Yamaha PSR-EW310 keyboard which I bought new in 2022.
Day 5. I really enjoyed this one! I followed the prompt, key is Bb and tempo 140 bpm. My interpretation of old and new was to bring in new piece of hardware and use a vocal lines from older project. I got inspired to use my own voice as some you did on day 4. Performance, mixing and arrangement could be better, but overall I’m happy with this one. Also figured out how I could’ve done the key change in day 4 with Circuit Tracks.
I decided to grab an old record and chop that up. Was struggling to get in the flow so I decided to call it a day early.
I chopped samples from this track - LITTLE BITS : JOHNNY DODDS' TRIO : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive - and added drums, bass, dub siren and organ.
This was a fun one! I decided to dig out our old casio and sample some sounds from it.
Finally i made it. The old is the Taisho goto an japanese string instrument and the new basicly a drum maschine. The drumbrute impact suported by the circuit tracks.
Have a busy weekend so this was my way of meditating between the chaos. Short and sweet: Jan 5
My focus today was on getting a good double track on my nylon string acoustic/electric
Time to Jam 'n Chill with some LoFi written on the Liven Megasynthesis and Ambient0
Bringing some old sounds to a new genre <3
another day another live Jam recorded! some cuts again where it was dodgy or boring and just a touch of eq in post.
Went with the prompt this time - broke out some more A4 on this one which I must have had for about 12 years now!!
#jamuary2025 day5, went with January.org prompt for something old something new. The #synthstromdeluge I got Dec2023 so will call it the old and for new, the newest device I have is the #behringertd3 . Let’s see what I come up with… Actually did this one in the studio…
Jamuary 2015 Day 5
Quick jam with a MiniDisc and the Bastl Kastl FX 2 Wizard:
I think I’m more interested in textures and sound design for Jamuary, instead of structured jams with an arrangement.
My idea was to start with ancient rhythms (old) as a base and then layer choir and synths (new) on top to create an anthem spanning humanity across time.
This piece was created by laying down a couple of tribal drum tracks at 140bpm and then added the “Get Thee To A Monastery” patch from Void and Vista Folds for the choir, “Glimmering Stars” patch from Vangelis for Omnisphere 2 for the synth strings and the Aftertouch Surprise patch from Arturia’s CS-80 V4 with reverb from Eventide’s Blackhole Immersive for the trumpet like melody.
Created in Logic Pro. Video made in: https://vizzy.io

Happy enough with the ideas in this one although the mix and finesse just isn’t something there’s time for when you have two hours to do it. The ‘new’ here is the Nymphes that Santa brought, first play so spent a good portion of time just noodling. Then made a patch, lost it, and scrambled to get something back as I hadn’t recorded a thing.
The old is me dusting off Strum Session from AAS. Passable impressions of a robotic guitar player in my hands.
I did start in Bb minor and accidentally strayed into relative major territory. Lost 10 minutes noodling around in that neighbourhood as well before pulling it back to earn my first ‘prompt fully honoured’ badge.
Jamuary has been fun indeed but I really didn’t realise how slowly I work in general!
A semi-generative Ambient jam. There are three PADs, each controlled by an instance of stepic switching every four bars to a different diatonic note. They are also spread over three different octaves. Similarly there are two Plucks controlled by Stepic. The percussive and whale noises are triggered using Ableton Launch actions. Thanks so much for watching!
