Who is FAWMing?

Hey all! While I struggled to move quickly between my learning curve and being a “functional” adult (whatever that means) and only completed 5 songs for Jamuary, I had an incredible time, and really appreciate you all for existing and letting me join in on the fun.

The burning question is, who’s doing FAWM? I would love to continue this journey with you all over there. Comment your names if you don’t mind a follow, or find me @cathreu over at the FAWM website.

I hope to see you all soon, and if not, see you next year!

I’ve never heard of it before. What are the differences to Jamuary? I see that it is more about complete songs rather than jams, and it’s a song every 2 days. Are there prompts, too?

I’ll admit that I’m pretty exhausted at this point, plus still sick … so if anything, I’ll join late.

Maybe FAWM would be a better fit for me after all, since my goal for Jamuary is creating an album, and with that in mind, the pace is quite fast.

I’d encourage you to look through the website. It’s my first one so I’m still figuring it out, but it seems less focused on a song every 2 days, and is more so just a big world where people are colabbing, doing challenges, etc. The skirmishes are super cool, basically you get a prompt and have an hour to write something. It really beats the inner critic for me.

Feel better! I’ve been down with something for what feels like forever as well (really just like a week, but you know)

Well, it’s more about writing than finishing. But there are those who do it that way. Even if you write only one song, it’s better than none. There’s tons of challenges and prompts, almost too much. And there’s something called a skirmish where you get an hour to write a song. It can be lyrics only, but I’ve written probably my favorite song ever during one of these, which was both acoustic guitar and lyrics. I had something posted within an hour and even if you just use skirmishing to practice songwriting, it can be rewarding. I’ve been doing FAWM since 2018. A lot of people on there are focused on songwriting, you can still make electronic only jams and post them, as long as you made them within this years month of February.

I’m there as @beto too. One of the reasons why I couldn’t do Jamuary properly was that I was working on the FAWM website, adding some new features and preparing for the launch.
