I used todays prompt for tempo, key, and mood… and maybe the color?
Then I proceeded to force a piano part in a different key and a vocal at a different tempo to (sort of) conform LOL.

I’ve been enjoying the reimagining of pop songs as weird heavy experimental bits… so I’m keeping at it.

Day 3. Lots of Refractalizer in this one.

Since I was traveling to/from the mountains today, my partner challenged me to write my Jamuary song on my Analogue Pocket’s NanoLoop tool. I filmed a video of how it was all put together (the first few seconds are pretty quiet, since there’s nothing playing): Jan 3.mp4

You can find just the song here: Jan 3.mp3

Hi Dani, yes I’m a lefty. Was playing my Dean Vendetta (cheap and cheerful but I really like it!)

Hope you enjoyed

@Expensive_Notes I was looking forward to a jam from you, and I was not disappointed! I really like the use of the arpeggio, the insistent notes ~~ everything creates a nice sense of joyful urgency. And I liked the video too, with the swirling effect! Great jam!

@Yuteimusic really beautiful composiiton there! I really like all the variation throught the jam. How are you using the Deluge to trigger parts, are you in arrangement mode? I also just noticed the horizontal VU meter you have, that’s really cool!

@sunblogger ohhh, that’s a great use of the prompt, really clever! I like the rhythmic notes, they sound like morse code. Also love all the textures here!

@MattSpringer so cool! This has such a vibrant energy, and I love the snapping fingers for percussion. I listened to the original (I think? I found it on YouTube…) and both versions are very different, it’s really interesting how you made a different today’s jam its own thing!

@RosaLiechtenstein oh wow, this is some INTENSE 170 bpm! I really like the buildup, it just kept going! Really nice, and it sounds great!

@Ray-Marcher another really nice build up here! And then a cool release, I really like the nice transition with the filter there!

@FriendlyVisitor this is some happy hardcode indeed! And there are no mistakes in jams, just improvisations that maybe we shouldn’t repeat in the future! I liked the energy of this one.

@banalytic this was quite the experience! I really like those sounds, they made me zone out and just be there with my thoughts. I miss my DFAM, it’s such a weird interesting synth!

@Syhr_Samoht ooooooh yeah, that guitar! I love it, what a great jam! This needs to be a whole album, please! I really love songs that mix guitar and synths that way, that’s an amazing jam.

@Soupoclap this is lovely, but I feel it’s more in 85 bpm than 170? Don’t get me wrong, it’s gorgeous and I loved listening to it! I love how light and how much space there is, I would listen to this all day while coding.

@muezig hell yeah, another great jam that really puts me in the zone!

@Gubna this is really interesting, I loved listening to it! So many directions, so many little details capturing the attention all the time. Super cool!

Thank you

I use community firmware and its grid view in Deluge. It’s easy to trigger clips on and off, really like the grid view fornmy workflow. I sequence all the synths in Deluge (J-6, WASP and four tracks from Digitone) and drums are sequenced in Model:Cycles.

@Vidar so cool! Really nice use of the stereo field when the chorus hits for the second time! This has a nice feel good vibe!

@CarfDarko nice! This is too short — especially if it’s not a drill! Super catchy, I went back for seconds.

@elektronaut this one is pretty frenectic, I like it! Really cool energy going on, and is interesting all the way through. I like the outro, but I was sad because I wanted more!

@immaculate_abyss this is beautiful! Captures well the feeling of a gray day, and feels big and ominous.

@koh_arq nice one! Urgent and happy! I like the scale you used, it gives is an exotic that goes well with the kalimba. Really cool sound design here!

@daveyc oh wow, this is so cool, I was not expecting that! Really cool cover, and I love the sound design, especially the growling bass and the muted bass from 0:49. Well done!

@erothyme nice, I love that intro, and when the main part comes it’s so good — glitchy and distorted. I really liked this one!

@dreamindani I wasn’t able to see the video because computers, but I was able to listen to the MP3. I never heard of the Analogue Pocket’s NanoLoop, so I went to check it out and it’s a cartridge for the Game Boy Advance?!? That’s really cool, and I like the jam you did!

@DroneSinger this is beautiful, I love the happy calm feeling of the song! It’s sounded like the soundtrack for the ending of a movie.

@mmk230 this one is really interesting… I was not expecting those changes! Cool sound textures, I like how much it varies.

@duckramp ohhh, I liked this! It’s mysterious and ominous. Those horns sounds cut through the arpeggio to create a lot of urgency. Really nice!

Oh, I have the community firmware and I never knew it had a grid mode! I’ll check it out, thanks!

Very cool Carf. I’m getting down with the vibes of it. A real toe tapper.

Sense of urgency achieved! I want to get up and dance….

Did this yesterday instead of Saturday but… life.

It’s a short ambient piece made with an OG Microfreak connected to AUM on an iPad Pro 10.5" (2017)

@Expensive_Notes Lovely arp. The pluck you’re playing actually does sound a little wintery to me, but maybe that’s because I’m seeing snow falling outside while listening to your jam.

@Yuteimusic Your jam has a great flow/structure and everything sounds very good together. Nice one.

@sunblogger Cool use of the prompt, and very enjoyable jam to listen to.

@MattSpringer Nice vibe

@RosaLiechtenstein I love the vibe of the first minute, and great jam overall

@Ray-Marcher Very nice, love the vocoders.

@banalytic Cool sonic exploration with some nice sounds in there.

@Syhr_Samoht I like how your jam has this heaviness going on while it’s kind of chill at the same time

@Soupoclap Very chill beat. The stereo foley sounds are great and the variation in the drums over the course of the jam is inspirational.

@muezig That sounds nice again. For what do you use the 404 and what comes out of your modular?

@AndyAffleck lovely bell sounds there, has quite the mysterious feeling!
