1 hour before midnight here in austria…
my jam for january 5th

I was almost afraid I’d have to give today a miss due to lack of time, but then the bones of this came together in just a few minutes. Funny how inspiration works sometimes.

The background texture is a field recording I made a while back from a stream outside.

Managed to make something just before midnight! Hoping to get an earlier start tomorrow :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

In which Carf explores a jam which could be so much more, but Jamuary only has 24h per prompt.

To be revisited!

Day 5. Another short one but this time I actually (kinda) followed the prompt, specifically the winding down music box. Though my music box winds down a bit differently…

Created on an iPad Pro 10.5" (2017) using AUM and Circa with sounds from my own mouth, SynthMaster 2, and MoodUnits by Rob Jackson.

I also caught up on Days 3 and 4. See respective pages for thems.

Easing into starting to sing on these. Something simple to get my mind off of things: Jan 5.mp3

Here’s mine for today — had a super busy day, so my plans of trying to loop the guitar were pushed for another day.

This is great! I really really dig the sub-bass. Definitely could vibe to this for hours.

Day 5 composition. Not a lot of time today, so this is a quick, simple little melody for a music box, with a twist at the end. This was the first time I had the chance to try out the tempo ramp in Logic Pro. I also used the Transit 2 vst from Baby Audio which has a great drop preset I was able to apply as part of the wind down effect.

Prompts used:
BPM: 111 • Key: A Major • Color: Lavender • Phrase: “A music box winding down”.

Composed and recorded in Logic Pro.

My first jam this year.

I wasn’t that happy with this year’s prompts, so I decided to take Brian Funk’s prompts (from the Music Production Poadcast/Club) instead:

Day 5: “5/4”
● Activity: Write music in 5/4 time.
● Philosophy: “New roads lead to new destinations.”

Yet I took the tempo and key from here.

nudigoku Super good! That’s just screaming for a trumpet or sax to play along. Let me know if you’d ever like to collab.

For day 5 of Jamuary, I put together a quick ambient piece.

I used python to write audio files from three-dimensional electric and magnetic field data gathered by NASA’s Van Allen Probes. I then (heavily) processed the results with Pitchmap and various other audio effects. The only sound not created this way is the simple synth bass.

All the background nonsense is Lyra through The Pipe sampled and shaped into 4 channels with Torso S-4. Arp was played on the Terra. And then I really mangled it. =)

@muezig what a mesmerizing setup <3 love the beat, me and my wife would go all out on the dancefloor.

@inchoate now THAT is a Groovebox I haven’t seen in a long time! Awesome to see one in action during this Jamuary! Was the heavy distorted sound after 3 minutes on perpose?

@RosaLiechtenstein Love the little background story bout the jam, it’s always fun when something accidently inspires you  tried todo the same with an old honky tonky piano that I found last halloween in a store but the sound was just not right enough to use. Great jam!

@BigBigBig great vibes, love the little details and perfectly timed filters, gives me a kinda cyberpunk vibes.

@FriendlyVisitor great mix and execution of the idea, I love how unhinged and haunting it becomes over time.

@Soupoclap As usual great vibes but there is something shady about this one. Everytime I think I know what is coming up next you put me off guard. Soundwise it truly gives me Satisfactory vibes (game that me and Carf Jr are into) which is always good in my book. Seen the MC909 in the list today?

@beto those are some lovely futuristic vibes, great little story for just a 2 minute jam! You are also the kinda musician that I really have no idea what you will come up with tomorrow, just like the prompts
